WHAT’S YOUR DREAM?

Journalists

Who remembers the popular movie----Pretty Woman, with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts?   I do and I especially remember and love the statement by a man at the very beginning of the movie, saying:  “Welcome to Hollywood! What's your dream? Everybody comes here; this is Hollywood, land of dreams. Some dreams come true, some don't; but keep on dreamin' - this is Hollywood. Always time to dream, so keep on dreamin'.”  I love this statement.   Why?  It is very powerful and hopeful for all of us because we all have a dream or dreams since early childhood.  I do.  Some people do attain their dreams but many do not.  In this article I would like to share and hopefully motivate all of you with dreams and those of you without a dream, to maybe:  get a dream.  And what better time to ponder on this is than at the beginning of a brand new year.

I always believe that a new year brings a new beginning for all of us to try to make our dreams come to fruition…. But one must be motivated and determined to take action, have a solid workable plan in place, focus and most of all:  Take Action.  I love this saying I stumbled across recently:  If you hate where you are now and feel stuck, move,  because you are not a tree.”  (Author Unknown)  I like this saying because it is true and it can be applied to a lot of life situations that we are currently in:  a job that we dislike, location- where we live, a very difficult/complicated relationship, etc.

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the word dream:  “1) a series of thoughts, visions, or feelings that happen during sleep--  For example:  He had a dream about climbing a mountain. You were in my dream last night.  2) an idea or vision that is created in your imagination and that is not real--   for example:   She indulged in dreams [=fantasies] of living in a palace. I've found the man/woman of my dreams. 3)something that you have wanted very much to do, be, or have for a long time-- for example:  He has had a lifelong dream of becoming an actor. It's a dream of mine to own a house in the country.”   For purposes of my article, we will be focusing on definition number 3:   Something that you have wanted very much to do for a very long time:  pursuing a different career path, changing the location of where you currently live,  a business venture desire/passion you had since a little child…. The list is endless.  I love Google’s definition of the word dream:  “a strongly desired goal or purpose.”

For the purposes of my article, we will focus of Google’s definition of the word dream and Item number 3 definition found in Merriam-Webster.

How does one set out to make your dream a reality?   According to an article written by Susan M. Heathfield,  here are some easy suggestions/steps to accomplishing your life goals/resolutions or dream:.

1.  Deeply desire in your heart the dream/goal/resolution.

2.  Visualize yourself achieving the goal.

3.  Make a Plan for a path to follow.

4.  Commit to the goal by writing it down.

5.  Check your progress frequently

6.  Adjust your plans if progress slows.

As Napoleon Hill stated in his famous book.  “Think And Grow Rich”:  (which I personally own a copy of and has read and re-read this book so many times and have even purchased additional copies and passed them out to my family members and close friends.)  “The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE.  Keep this constantly in mind.  Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.”

I believe, any one can set a goal/make a resolution/have a dream, but the key thing here to always remember is this:   One must have an extremely strong DESIRE to achieve this goal.   In other words, keep this goal dream in your mind/thoughts constantly and always maintain your focus on it no matter what obstacles/disappointment/discouragement come your way in your path to achieve it.

Another extremely important thing one must always have and maintain is:  a visualization of yourself achieving this goal.  I believe, visualization is the key to one being able to achieve his/her goal.  Visualization of my goals has always worked for me in achieving my goals as a Realtor and in all of my other outside sales jobs.

There is a famous and often quoted saying:   “With out a vision, people perish.”  What this short but very powerful statement merely means is this:  “To accomplish anything in life, one must have first a goal, a hope and a vision.  Your dreams determine your destiny.  And remember:  All memorable achievements were brought about by leaders who had visions.”

So lets make this new year of 2022,  the best year of your life by putting all of the above listed things into action in your life:  putting one foot forward at a time but taking action and not being stuck in the same place/situation.

Hope all of the above information inspires or motivates each and every one of you to act upon your long time dream, goal and make this new year of 2022 the absolutely best year of your life.  So until the next time we meet again,  please keep smiling, dancing and meeting new peoples on Smeet at all of our daily events.  If you see me around on Smeet  please do not hesitate to say Hi and if you want to read a topic that was never published in any of my articles, please message me in private.  Always remember to Love one another because Love conquers everything.
