It seems to be an oasis of calm and tranquillity, in the middle of the other lively animals of the zoo. Birds from different continents and different climates. There are so many flightless birds, which are happy in the bird house. They found there their families.

One kind of them is penguin. An aquatic flightless bird. They live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere. While penguins can’t fly, their stuff flippers, webbed feed and sleek shape make them expert swimmer. As a matter of facts they spend half of their lives on land and the other half in the sea. They can swim about 15 miles an hour.

Another specie of flightless bird in the bird house is the common ostrich, or simply ostrich. The ostrich are native from certain large areas of Africa, from savanna and desert land and get most of their water from the plants they eat. Although they cannot fly, they are strong runners. They can sprint up to 43 miles an out!

In the bird house there are also kiwis. They are an endangered species. Many of them are in New Zealand in forests, scrublands and grasslands. Kiwis are typically nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and are active during the night. They usually spend the night looking for food.
In just one place you can meet all these flightless birds, which come from all around the world. You can smell the air of different parts of our hemisphere.
