Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of text sent to your browser by a website that you visit. It helps the website to remember information about your visit, like your preferred language and other settings. That can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.

Why do we use cookies?

We use our own and third-party cookies for many purposes. We use them, for example, to help you sign up for our services and to protect your data, and to make the ads that you see more relevant to you.

What cookies do we use?

Below you can see a list of the types of cookies used by us. Our privacy policy explains how we protect your privacy in our use of cookies and other information.

  • Security: We use security cookies to authenticate users, prevent fraudulent use of login credentials and protect user data from unauthorised parties. Authentication cookies are included in this category, as well as in the Processes category.

  • Processes: Process cookies help make the website work and deliver services that the website visitor expects, such as navigating around web pages or accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies, the website cannot function properly. Preferences, load balancing and session state cookies are included in the Processes cookies.

  • Advertising: We use cookies to make advertising more engaging to users and more valuable to publishers and advertisers. For example, we may read a cookie so we can show you ads that may be interesting to you on Smeet or other websites. We may also use a cookie to learn whether someone who saw an ad on Smeet later visited the advertiser’s site. Similarly, our partners may use a cookie or other similar technology to determine whether we’ve shown an ad and how it performed, or provide us with information about how you interact with them. We also may work with a partner to show you an ad on or off Smeet, such as after you’ve visited the partner’s site or app, and this may involve the use of cookies, local storage on your device or other similar technologies. Our advertising partners include Google Adwords (developed by Google, Inc.).

  • Analytics: These type of cookies are used to understand, improve, and research products and services, including when you access Smeet or other websites and apps from a computer or mobile device. For this purpose our partners is Google Analytics (developed by Google, Inc.).

  • Social plug-in content and social plug-in tracking cookies: Our website may contain one or more social plug-in modules. Social plug-in modules allow the users of social networks to share contents that they like with their ‘friends’ (and propose other related functionalities such as publishing comments). These plug-ins store and access Cookies on the user’s computer, allowing social networks to identify their members when they interact with these plug-ins. Our social plug-in partner is Facebook.
