Originated in Germany as the wedding celebration of a Prince over 200 years ago, Oktoberfest has been changing and taking the form of what it is today, one of the biggest festivals in Germany that has extended to many countries around the world!

Oktoberfest is famous for different things, such as ginger cakes called Lebkuchenherzen, traditional clothing called dirndls worn by women and lederhosen worn by men, but most importantly, it's famous for the beer! And we’re not talking about just a pint or two, Oktoberfest is known for being a time of the year to drink lots and lots of beer; some waitresses can carry up to 18 jars of beer simultaneously, and in recent years, over 7 million of litres of beer are served during the festival!

The festival is so huge that we also celebrate it here on Smeet! You’ll get your chance to wear dirndls or lederhosen, eat Lebkuchenherzen, and drink beer!
